The Rodrigo–Fernando family's relationship with music spans four generations — Professor William Rodrigo, Bandmaster of the Ceylon Light Infantry; Professor Norbert Rodrigo, a celebrated pioneer of Sinhala Baila music; Professor Gerard Rodrigo, an important figure in the family's musical heritage; and Master Ranjan Fernando himself, who founded Ranjan Fernando Piano Centre in 1986. For this family, music was never a hobby — it was a language passed down through generations.
Ranjan Fernando Piano Centre was founded in 1986 by Master Ranjan Fernando with one singular purpose — to bring world-class instruments to Sri Lankan homes, concert halls, and conservatories. Over four decades the centre has serviced more than 5,000 pianos and served more than 5,000 families and customers — professional pianists, schools, institutions and home players in Colombo and throughout Sri Lanka.
Today, the centre continues under the same family stewardship that began it all, guided by the same values that have shaped the family's work for generations: integrity, craftsmanship, and devotion to the art of music. Master Ranjan Fernando works alongside a team he has trained himself, who carry out tuning, repair and restoration work to the same standard.

A piano is a lifelong companion — a little care goes a long way
Stable Environment
Keep your piano away from direct sunlight, draughts, and exterior walls. Stable temperature and humidity protect the soundboard, action, and tuning stability.
Regular Cleaning
Dust keys and casework with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid household cleaning sprays on the keys or finish — they can damage delicate surfaces over time.
Routine Servicing
