Looking for reliable piano tuning in Colombo? A well-tuned piano should feel balanced, sound clear and respond consistently across the entire keyboard. Ranjan Fernando Piano Centre provides professional piano tuning and maintenance for homes, schools, studios, concert venues and other institutions across Sri Lanka.
For Sri Lanka's changing temperature and humidity conditions, regular tuning is especially important. We assess the instrument first, tune with precision, play-test the full keyboard and record the work completed so you know what your piano needs next.
Most acoustic pianos in regular home use benefit from tuning twice per year. Instruments in performance venues, recording studios, or music schools where practice is intensive often require more frequent tuning to maintain optimal pitch and tone.
Our overall piano tuning fee is LKR 5,000. The technician will assess your piano and carry out the tuning, including pitch raising if required, within this fee. Before starting, we explain the risk of string breakage and discuss any replacement charges, so you can agree before chargeable replacement work is carried out. Three stages, every visit — from first listen to written record.

Assessment
We begin by playing through the full range of the keyboard, listening for pitch discrepancies, checking whether a pitch raise is needed, and looking at the strings and the action. Before we start, we explain the risk of a string breaking and agree what you would like us to do if one does.

Tuning
Using precision electronic tuning devices combined with our technician's trained ear, every string is brought to concert pitch. A piano that has drifted well below pitch gets a pitch raise before fine tuning — within the same LKR 5,000 fee.

Service Record
Once complete, we play test the piano across its full range and provide a written service record noting the condition found, work completed, and recommended next service date.

Home Tuning — LKR 5,000
One overall fee for the tuning visit: the technician assesses the piano, brings every string back to concert pitch (A440) and play-tests the full range.
Pitch Raising Included
For a piano left untuned for a long time and now well below pitch: a first pass to raise the tension safely, then a fine tuning — included in the same LKR 5,000 fee.
Concert & Event Tuning
Tuning timed for a recital, exam, recording or event, with a final check close to the performance where needed.
Regulation & Voicing
Tuning fixes pitch; regulation fixes touch and voicing fixes tone. If keys feel uneven or notes sound harsh, we will explain what is needed.
