Sri Lanka's tropical climate features humidity ranges of 60% to 90%. As the wooden soundboard absorbs and releases moisture across monsoon and dry seasons, string tension fluctuates, causing the pitch to shift.
If a piano has not been tuned for several years, its overall tension drops significantly below international standard pitch (A440). A pitch raise is a preliminary tensioning pass performed before fine tuning to ensure tuning stability.

Every instrument is cocooned in thick quilted padding, secured with specialist transit straps, and transported in weather-sealed vehicles with hydraulic tail-lifts and non-marking rubber dollies.
We advise letting the piano settle into its new home for 7 to 14 days so the wood and soundboard acclimate to the local room temperature and humidity before final fine-tuning.
