The Story of a Piano Built in Sri Lanka by Master Ranjan Fernando

A piano built for the local market by Master Ranjan Fernando, his brothers and team — never sold, and kept by the family as a memento.

A Piano Made for the Local Market

Alongside the tuning, repair and restoration work of Ranjan Fernando Piano Centre, which he founded in 1986, Master Ranjan Fernando, together with his brothers and team, built a piano in Sri Lanka. It was intended for the local commercial market.

The work was featured in the Sinhala daily newspaper Divaina on 20 April 2004. The original newspaper pages, kept by the family, are reproduced below.

Economic circumstances prevented regular production. The piano was never sold — the family has kept it as a memento of what was achieved.
